Position Statement in Relation to Privacy and the Use of Personal Information
CPMEC used Med-E-Serv Pty Ltd as its service provider. We (CPMEC & Med-E-Serv) are committed to protection of the privacy of your personal information and conduct our business in accordance with the Australian Government's National Privacy Principles. Your personal information
Personal information held by us may include your name, gender, address, date of birth, telephone and mobile phone number, email address, professional classification, position title, organisation, postcode and service username and password. If you do not provide certain personal information we may not be able to provide you with the services that you require.
Disclosure of information to/from third parties
We may disclose your personal information to organisations or people outside of CPMEC & Med-E-Serv in relation to providing our services to you. These organisations provide services to CPMEC or Med-E-Serv and may include services such as:
- IT services,
- Installation, maintenance and repair services,
- Provision of course content,
- Market research,
- User inquiries,
- Mailing operations,
- Website usage analytics.
We take reasonable steps to ensure that these organsations and individuals are bound by confidentiality and privacy obligations in relation to the protection of your personal information.
We will not disclose your personal information to any other third party unless you have expressly authorised us to do so.
The information we collect
We collect:
- information provided by you at the time of your registration, and when you update that information, including your name, gender, date of birth, professional classification, position title, organisation, postcode, telephone number, email address, primary professional affiliation, user name and password;
- session log information (i.e. date and time of your use of the service and hits on pages);
- cookies (information sent to your computer hard drive to store information about your preferences in relation to our web site); and
- details of education units undertaken/completed.
How to access and update your personal information
You may view your personal information dataset via the Edit Your Profile facility on the website. Access to this area is password-controlled. The contact detail fields of this dataset can be edited by you to correct inaccuracies or reflect changes.
You may request details of the information that we hold about you by email to the Med-E-Serv Customer Support Team (learning@medeserv.com.au). We will forward the information by return email which may be re-submitted to us with alterations/deletions etc.
The accuracy of our information depends to a large extent on the information you provide. Therefore we ask that you advise us of any errors in or changes to your personal information.
How we use this information
We use Registration Information
- to verify your identity
- to assist you to use our service
- to administer the services
- to inform you of changes or updates to the services
- to research, maintain and develop our services and systems
- to register participation in stocktake
- to obtain further information from you
- to inform you about our services
We use Session Log Information
- to analyse demand for our services and understand usage patterns to help design services which better meet our users' needs; and
- to provide de-identified, aggregated information to third parties on service usage by professional classification and geography.
We may use cookies to enable you to specify your unique preferences and to control your access and authenticated education session.
At your option, we may provide information about education units undertaken/completed to your Reference Body to update your CPD record.
Security of your personal information
All personal information is stored in a database on our secure server. We maintain the secure server to limit unauthorised external access to your personal information.
Internally to Med-E-Serv, access to the database is restricted to authorised persons only, who are responsible for updating the database, providing user support and assembling aggregated reports.
Whilst we strive to maintain the security of your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information during transmission to us or if our systems are accessed by unauthorised users.
